Activities and Classes
• Open club fencing
The doors open at 7 p.m. at the Grange Hall every Tuesday evening. Enter at the back door. Bring indoor-only court shoes. There are two restrooms and a changing room. No food or drinks allowed upstairs. We lay down rubber strips for the modern fencers according to the number fencing and generally share the rest of the floor between the historical styles. You are welcome to fence in your own way as long as you neither injure nor endanger anyone. The veterans present will generally give advice and even lessons when asked.

• How classes are created.
Some of our teenage Longsword students in practice, 2003.
When a group of fencers requests the same kind and level of instruction, a class may be started to meet this need. The last time this happened was two years ago when a group of young people who had never fenced before requested a class in German Longsword.
The result was that our instructors researched it and commenced a yearlong series of Tuesday night classes that ran from 6 to 7, ahead of normal club hours. That class resulted in the popularity of longsword we enjoy here today.
• Other Activities
On occasion we will organize a demonstration, visit other clubs, enter tournaments, take a canoe trip, go out to dinner after fencing, or throw parties. After-dinner fencing is helpful for those who follow the Sword Club maxim that when the venue is available it is better to fence now, talk later. You do not have to be a long-time member to be involved in these activities.
